Recipe: Black Truffle Salt

We love this great holiday gift idea from Chef Casto! The salt is so easy to prepare and will be a luxurious treat for the foodies in your life. Truffle salt is good on pretty much anything (steak, pasta, roast chicken), but we especially love it on simple foods like french fries or popcorn so you can really get the flavor of the truffle. Servings will depend on how generous you want to be. Since it’s such a decadent gift, a little goes a long way.

Black Truffle Salt

Ingredients

  • 4 cups sea salt, such as fleur de sel
  • 5 grams truffles
  • 1/2 teaspoon or more truffle oil
  • Paper & ribbon for tags
  • Assorted small containers

Instructions

Finely grate truffle directly into salt using a microplane. Add truffle oil and rub with gloves hands until truffles and oil are evenly distributed. Store in a cool dry place in an airtight container.

Notes

Chef's Tip: You can use a funnel to get the salt into the containers. If your funnel is too big, you can roll up parchment paper to create your own tiny funnel.
