No, it’s not a dream.
It’s the ultimate fantasy for ice cream lovers come true. The Museum of Ice Cream is opening from April 22nd to May 29th in DTLA, and tickets went on sale yesterday. Last year, it sold out in New York City in a mere five days and had a wait list with over 200,000.
Thankfully, the Los Angeles Museum is four times the size and will feature ten completely re-imagined installations. The homage to the ice cold, iconic treat was founded and designed by Maryellis Bunn and features a “banana split” comprised of ten thousand bananas, a “mint” grow house, a melted popsicle jungle and a swimmable sprinkle pool.
There will also be plenty of ice cream, of course. Through the museum’s residency, there will be a scoop a week program, which will highlight ice cream from legendary local creameries including McConnell’s, Salt & Straw, Coolhaus x Cuisinart and CREAM.
Ticket prices are $29 per person, $18 for children (3-12) and seniors (60+). Tickets include two curated ice cream tastings and all sorts of other edible surprises.
Stay tuned, the Museum of Ice Cream will be opening in new locations this year and more in 2018.
