Classic Brownies

These brownies are so rich and decadent – a perfect treat for a cold winter day. Add a personal touch and top with candy of your choice (we love crushed candy canes during the holiday season).

Pro tip: leave these for Santa instead of predictable chocolate chip cookies…he will thank you!

Classic Brownies

Serves: 12 Cooking Time: 35 minutes


  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2/3 cup cocoa
  • 1 cup AP flour
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 cup chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate frosting or ganache
  • Toppings of your choice (we recommend crushed candy cane)



Melt butter.


Add the rest of the ingredients, and mix until incorporated.


Pour mixture into a well greased 9 x 13 cake pan.


Bake at 350 degrees until a toothpick comes out clean (approx. 20-30 minutes)


Let cool. Decorate with your choice of icing (we recommend a ganache). Sprinkle with crushed candy canes.


Cut into 2 in x 2 in squares.


Place brownies in a decorative tin or individual cellophane bags to give as a gift.
